If you are interested in old telephones and telephone exchanges then a trip to the new Telephone Museum at The Heritage Centre in Milton Keynes is well worth a visit. This museum is also part of the BT Connected Earth scheme.
Some delights of the new Gallery include Strowger, Crossbar and TXe exchanges; plus a range of switchboards from magneto to TXE4. Several hands-on telephone and telegraph items, such as ABC and 5 needle, are set up and functioning; as are an original police pillar and a full size Tardis type box. There is also a display of historic wooden wall phones and a telephone time line.
These are some of the photographs that I took during my enjoyable visit in October 2013 to the new Telephone Museum Gallery at Milton Keynes which opened Easter 2013. My thanks to Bill, Peter and all the other hard-working volunteers for their kind assistance and warm welcome.
